All Aboard!

Now my holidays have just begun, well it started last Friday at 11.00 a.m actually. But the thing is, I went home and took a nap. Hours later I had a fever. Which seriously sucked, it carried over all the way till today.

Now a normal fever wouldn't last too long. But I just had to go make it worse. How? Walking into Rock Corner with 50 bucks and taking this out of the DVD rack.

Ozzy Osbourne - Live At Budokan

It's a recorded live performance of Ozzy at the Budokan, Japan. That's what the picture says. Here's the thing, I've never been to a live concert. Reason being, no half-decent band that interests me comes to Malaysia. Except One Republic, but I didn't go to the MTV Asia Awards.
Therefore I have resorted to buying live recordings of my favourite bands.

Everything about this DVD was perfect. All 14 songs played were nailed down perfectly. Basically there was nothing below-par, a classic Ozzy performance. This coming from a man who at the time was in his mid-50s and nearly 4 decades in the music industry. Age doesn't catch on this crazy man.

Throughout the years, Ozzy has played with many people. With his band members coming and going, and of course one dying unfortunately. But no matter what, he's always had a top quality band playing. This band no different, but this band did look the meanest.

On drums there was Mike Bordin, former drummer of Faith No More. He was awesome the whole gig. I'm not a drummer but I don't think Ozzy songs are easy to play and it looked to be very tiring but this man here was excellent.

On bass, Ozzy had Robert Trujillo who currently plays for Metallica. They say the bassist is the least noticed in a band, but you can't miss this huge beast of a man. His giant stomping is a regular in his performances. During Suicide Solution, he lifted his guitar parallel to the floor with one hand and spun in circles. Really awesome bassist.

On guitar, the amazing Zakk Wylde. He was stunning the whole gig, he's got so much feel in his playing with mega vibratos all over the place. He can change the whole mood of a song with one of his signature vibratos. His long guitar solo after Suicide Solution included him playing with the guitar behind his neck, and also playing with his teeth. He would also have done the USA proud by playing Star Spangled Banner.

Ozzy, as crazy as always. He really did look like he came out of a lunatic asylum. Slouched forward, big eyes, shaking and that big smile. Even The Joker would bow down to him. He really got the crowd going with his antics, he even showed off a bit of his undies to the west stand.

The crowd response was really great too, it was all thanks to Ozzy. I don't know what I would've done if I was there when Ozzy shouted AAALLLLLLL ABOOOOOAAAARRRDD!!! to start off Crazy Train.

Crazy Train is one of Ozzy's most famous songs. It's a song he plays in every gig and I'm gonna show you how much it has evolved from when Randy Rhoads started it.



Then it was Jake E.Lee's turn to take over the reigns.



And finally Zakk Wylde.



Gee, Ozzy did lose weight huh.

Now after watching this DVD. My fever got much worse thanks to the head banging and all but it sure was worth it. So much so I'm gonna watch it again.

I love Ozzy Osbourne.
